  • Cedar Hill boasts a feast of fun things to do. In its 36 square miles, you’ll find friendly people and an outstanding quality of life with many social, entertainment and recreational possibilities. Here you can really celebrate and live a full life!

    Constructed in 1997 on a 154 acre park, Valley Ridge, provides organized playing fields for softball, soccer, football, 3 playgrounds, hike and bike trails, along with an outdoor amphitheater seating 2,000.

    The Cedar Hill Recreation Center offers two gymnasiums, exercise room, cardio machines, workout facilities, an indoor track and much more. The Recreation Center is approximately 26 acres, and is located in the vicinity of the 900 block of South Clark Road. The city parks and recreation facilities consist of 22 city parks on 591 acres including amenities such as: Municipal Swimming Pool Tennis Courts Picnic Tables & Benches Playground Equipment Community Theatre Walking Trails Baseball and Softball Diamonds Soccer Fields Football Fields Basketball Courts Creative Playground Picnic Pavilion City Parks and Recreation Department sponsors numerous special events including 2 kite fun flying days, a Valentine Daddy / Daughter Dance, fishing events for children, concerts in the park, softball and basketball tournaments and seasonal holiday events.

  • Cedar Hill’s most popular area is the 7,500 acre Lake Joe Pool and the Cedar Hill State Park. Lake Joe Pool offers fishing, boating, sailing, water sports and marinas. On the eastern shore of Lake Joe Pool is the Cedar Hill State Park. With almost 2 million visitors a year Cedar Hill State Park is the second most visited State Park in Texas. The State Park offers day and overnight camping with 355 campsites and 30 primitive campsites, a swimming each, playgrounds, boat ramps, pavilions, historic Penn Farm, and a marina and restaurant. Other recreational and cultural facilities include an 82 acre county park, 400+ acre natural preserve, 50 acre campfire girls camp, 503 acre church camp, commercial miniature golf course, roller skating rink, dance studio, galleries of several artists and craftsman and the Cedar Hill Historical Society Heritage House.

  • Country Day on the Hill is held on the second Saturday in October each year. The day is filled with family oriented activities: a parade, arts and crafts, food vendors, chili cook-off, belt sander races, 5K run, dog show, children’s corner, live entertainment, annual Lion’s Club Fish Fry and street dance. Join us the night before during our traditional Old Settler’s Reunion for Bingo, beans and cornbread, door prizes, music, the crowning of King and Queen of the Hill and fellowship.

    The Old Town Holiday on the Hill is held on the first Thursday of December in Historic Downtown Cedar Hill. Enjoy music, dancing, games, train rides, Santa, and great shopping! Held from 6-8pm, Holiday on the Hill is also the city’s official tree lighting ceremony. Join us in Downtown Cedar Hill for some Christmas cheer!

  • The Cedar Hill Parks and Recreation host Music in the Park at Valley Ridge Park in their outdoor amphitheater. The event takes place on every Friday evening in June. Bring your blanket and family and relax under the stars while listening to live music.
